Sunset, watercolour, 2010
We country
dwellers are often blessed with spectacular displays in the sky. The sunset can
be really any colour in the warm spectrum from orange to hot pink to purple to
bright red. The yellow shafts of sunlight break through brooding blue-grey
clouds against the almost black silhouetted trees. I couldn’t resist including
a rainbow in this book because I know from teaching kids art that rainbows are
often a subject of choice, no doubt, because of how much fun they are to
colour. The usual order of colours: red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
