Moose in Swamp, drawing, 2016

This is a magnificent swamp along Boulter Road that has everything you could want in such a place: tons of bare grey dead trees, abundant grasses, reeds and lily pads, and a hill visible through the complex pattern of branches. All that was missing was the moose so I imagined a young male, dark brown with beige antlers. It has been many years since I've seen a moose outside of Algonquin Park where odds are pretty good you will catch sight of one along the highway 60 corridor.

I often use colourless blender pencils(Prismacolor sells them in 2 packs on Amazon) and highly recommend trying them out! When you use them over colours they do an amazing job of smoothing the effect, be it with shading or flat areas of colour. In this moose picture I used it on the sky, water and moose.  Make sure to sharpen/clean the tip between colours to avoid unwanted smearing.
